Hi, hopefully you will all give me good news?
I have just bought a replacement getrag gearbox for a bmw 635csi from an auction site but upon delivery noticed one of tabs/brackets which are part of the casting has broken off (i do not have the broken piece). These "tabs" have a slotted hole in which bolt to the rubber gearbox mount.
I assume its an alloy casting and was manufactured around 1986.
Can a new tab be made ( or some material cut from something else and shaped to suit) and then welded?
I worry that it wont be able to be welded as the heat may damage the seals within the gearbox?
If it can be welded then Im in East Sussex so if anyone is local that can do this please PM me.
If pics will help then il take some tomorrow.
Thanks for any comments
