He states "compressed air" but it comes out cold, like a can of lighter gas. I don't recall cans of air being cold ? Anyone throw any light on this ?

^^ this. Unless you know EXACTLY what you're doing you'll probably make it worse (not necessarily worse as in a bigger dent but worse in that it's very easy to do something that can't be fixed with paintless methods) and/or damage the painthonestly, dont touch it
ask around your area for a good paintless dent man and £40-50 later it will be gone
But how do the painless dent repair people get them out ?
Google 'paintless dent removal' and click on videos. Here's one example that shows some of the gizmos... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-RxP-T8fTm8, a lot of the vids will show dents being pulled using glue tabs. The 'line board' is pretty much universal in that the traditional panel beating technique of using a body file to read the panel (highlight low and high spots) is obviously useless when you're trying to preserve the paint
The damage needs to be reversed in the right order to release the tension that's holding things out of shape. Just pushing the dent out can make things worse since the damage that's holding it out of shape is around the outside of the dent. Too much pressure, pressure in the wrong spots/order and you can easily end up in a situation that either makes things more difficult (or even impossible) to get an invisible repair without paint work
