Just been fixed up in work with some new HAV meters on all the power hand tools we use.
Each tool has a magnet type thing fixed to it...either with glue or cable ties.
This magnet holds a seperate meter that can be swapped between various tools. The magnet has the details of the tool encoded in it so every time the meter is attached it can tell what it's attached to and how long it's been used.
The meters are held on a base station and a personal swipe card is used to check them out. The swipe card loads the meter with your name and then at the end of the day when the meter is reattached to the base station it loads all the info onto an SD card.
What i do is swipe one out in the morning then carry it around in my pocket attaching it to each power tool i use during the day.
The meters count up "points" on how long each tool is used and the vibration each one produces. up to 400 points max in a day.
15 minutes on a jack hammer got me up to around 150.
They also have some flashing lights corresponding to how much vibration you have been exposed to.
It looks like it's a pretty good system and should work well, apart from the meter i ripped the top off when i tried to take it off a grinder
The base station
Red magnet fixed to jack hammer
Magnets on some grinders
Hav meter
The lights go from green to amber to red...time to call it a day when it gets to red.
