Hi folks, as a small project, i'm building a frame for a dining room table. A friend has a glass top he's going to give me.
I came up with a quick (over-engineered) design, but i have small dilemma.
Our flat is tight to get things into (8th floor, lift access etc) so the table will be bolted in a couple of places so i can dismantle it.
The legs are 40mm box section, the side/top part will bolt to the top of the legs with 2 M8 bolts. I was going to put nuts on the inside of the legs but it will be a tight squeeze and i may cap the top of the legs so i won't have access to the nuts. The part being bolted to the leg is 5mm flat bar.
The question is, would i be as well putting a section of flat bar inside the leg? Drilling and tapping the hole? Or would tapping 5mm flat bar, not be strong enough?
Any help would be appreciated.
