One thing though, linux is not completely immune to viruses, but it is more secure, and many of the updates than seem to happen weekly are security updatesas well. When you log on to a linux pc you log on as a user. If you want to change anything in the system you must re-log on as root, which means that incoming viruses have a much harder time getting through. Aside from that though, the biggest reason linux doesn't suffer like windows is that there are way more idiots writing viruses for windoze than linux, which will eventually change as more people use it. It will still be more secure though and if there is ever a nasty virus outbreak there will be thousands of people cracking the code instead of windoze trying to pretend there isn't a problem for several weeks in case it affects sales. Go figure.
