Hi guys,
I was wondering what the general consensus is regarding "real" paints put in spray cans. I don't know the right term for the paint, but the local paint-shop - who sells "real car paints" - also supplies the same paints in aerosol spray cans.
My current project is a bicycle and I'm about to paint it. First I'm going to clean all the old paint off using paint stripper (tried it and it works, very cool), then it's time for new paint.
I'm led to believe that I need;
1) Etch primer (what's etch in this case?)
2) Normal primer
3) Colour coats
4) Clear coat - if I'm going with metallic/fancy paint.
Is that true, considering that my choice of colour will be a bright yellow (think Ford Signal Yellow), perhaps with a pearly effect?
These cans aren't that cheap, so I'm also wondering whether it's actually worth the effort/money, or should I just go down to Halfords to get the paints from there and get on with it.
Thanks!!
