I have a magnetic whiteboard in the office and a large mirror in the studio which I use sticky notes on for jobs in hand - in columns so they can be moved to the DONE column and give a sense of achievement
Actually mirrors make great 'white' boards, can usually be picked up cheap (old sliding wardrobe doors if you want a big one) and increase the light and feeling of space in your workshop.
