Hello everyone,
First post here so be gentle with me!
I'm doing a welding course at my local agricultural college so getting some good practice. About to buy my first welder and settled on a Parweld 171 XTM as it fits the bill in terms of my welding needs. I have the answer to most of my questions through here and I have checked out the 161 review on the forum which looks encouraging. The difference between the two machines however is that the 171 holds the 15Kg reel and needs an adapter kit to hold the 5Kg whereas the 161 is a 5Kg reel machine.
My question to those of you who have the 171 with the adapter is, does the kit have an effect on the wire feed alignment or is it suitable to do the job? I'm tempted to just get the 15Kg and not to worry but the amount of welding I will do will mean the wire will be inactive for long periods of time and short of taking the reel off and storing it somewhere environmentally protective where it won't be effected by moisture etc, 5Kg seems the best solution
Your thoughts would be appreciated
