Excuse my ignorance but how does the process work, ive never seen it in action?
Is it a flux cored wire used with shielding gas? (or am i talking ****e as normal)
Dual shield is a cored wire that also uses a gas the same as a solid wire would. It can not be used without the gas though.... There is a definite difference between inner shield wire and dual shield wire. I tend to run a 71 series as it is an all position wire. When I'm doing things that will be done in the strictly flat position I will switch to a 70 series wire, which is designed to be used in that position. The 2 wires have different performance charteristics and appearences and different types of gas will have a different on the bead in a whole as well. Hope this helps.
yes ditto to what lorenzo said, just to add I use heavy sheild with a 1.2 wire and still use standard 70 wire in the flat, It sounds like me and loronzo(again) are singing from the same song book, The duel is very good uphand and overhead especialy on large cresent fills, I find penetration better and the wire very easy to use, disavantages are the posibilty of slag inclutions and the cost.
