Love the show, would love to go on it one day. So many toys to play with, the workshop just about has everything you'd need. And you'd get to play with quads and dragging stuff about tehe.
Not sure if there's any more planned is there? Certainly hasnt been for a bit, I have to make do watching the re-runs on Dave...yawn! It went a little downhill at the end though I must admit, with very obviously placed items in the heap and too much "tinkering" (cough "let them finish the build") time.
McGyver would have done well on it. I liked the international one where they built an aeroplane and the British design was great, it actually worked well. There's video on youtube here.
it is apparently a sort of a fix in that if the producers think your machine is going to bite the dust too early they send in their engineers to alter it a make better tv
I tried to get a team together a number of years ago but couldnt find enough people with decent skills. I even tried to teach someone how to weld. After a week I gave up. Then I had a big bike accident so that was that. Pity though cause I do like the prog.
Used to love the program, now ive read the article on migweb im severely dissapointed. Half of the reason I bought a welder was from dreaming of living on the scrapheap =/
Just bought a 3 DVD set based on this thread. I've watched Scrapheap Challenge since it started and love the UK version. The US one is tosh. And like CandyGT, I got into welding and stuff because of shows like this.
I think I'd be fairly handy on a team, although being in NZ sort of puts paid to actually taking part. I love looking at the designs and picking holes in them although sometimes it's surprising what actually works.
No TV show but still going on. Always fancied a go at this, even went to see robotwars live in London, but every day life seems to have got in the way.
