I dont post here often but I am doing my latest restoration project and because it involves some welding I thought you guys might like a look .
It is a Coventry Victor WD 2 marine engine .
It was rescued from a sunken boat in the Avon estuary and was transported to my house in Sunny Bolton
It dates from 1953 and at the moment is looking rather sad .
the plan is to mount it on a trolley with a cooling tank and show it to the public at vintage rally's and fairs .
The first task was to strip it and inspect all the essential bits
All stripped and inspected and found to be in remarkably good order , considering it was partly submerged for allmost twenty years all the nuts and bolts came undone without too much fighting and not a stripped thread to be seen .
The next job was to make a show trolley for transport and display , and after a few hours with a grinder and my mig I came out of the shed with this
After cutting some wood for the boat effect it looks like this
A cooling tank is needed because it is " water cooled " and a fuel tank mount was allso needed so I came up with this idea .
And after a few hours this morning I came out of the shed with the tanks finished
Next task is to strip the paint and rust from the engine and get it all ready for paint
