I'll do that sometimes too. Last time was where a member became agressive after not having had an answer to their question after just one day. What had been said up to that point seemed useful to a point, so the thread stayed, but was closed - mostly because the member didn't deserve an answer after his display.Mal instead of deleting a post why not lock it with a "final word" from yourself...
That's what I try to do on other forums I moderate. One board I used to frequent was known outside the forum for "sneaky" moderation, about which most of the forum members were blissfully unaware. Individual posts or entire threads would silently disappear, as would users.Mal instead of deleting a post why not lock it with a "final word" from yourself...
That way newbies and longtermers can see just what will and will not be tolerated..........
wouldnt we all end up in the bin though?
deleted posts = nanny state.
I direct the member to the disclaimers given in the previous post by our resident "lawyer in a former life", Lorenzo.
And if you can think of any questions re life in the U.K, i'm sure we will try and answer. Mind you, it's a tiny country compared to the U.S., but shockingly diverse. It may be time for a "show us where you live" thread in the near future....
LOL..... resident "lawyer in a former life"
As to life in the U.K. I am just unable to give any input with regard to the types of equipment you use...... rod/ wire selection, things of that nature. So my interaction with this forum is a bit limited. Someday I will probably venture across the way and experience your country first hand.
is there a "thankyou" emoji? think it would be usefullIt's not actually so much work to moderate here - which is down to the great bunch of people we have here on the forum. I ought to say thanks more often, after all the forum would be a very useless place without you all. Anyway, thanks
I've left my first forum because of the moderation team deleting threads that I had put time and effort into just because there was an argument later on. Here we'll try just to delete the argument, but it's better if the argument doesn't happen in the first place.
It's the atmosphere I'm keen to maintain. We've got a great atmosphere here. Everyone is friendly, and I'd hope that newbies feel they can join in without any fear of newbie bashing or some culture they have to try to and fit in with. We were all newbies here once.
Lost myself now. There was definately something I was building up to. Ah well, glad to hear the forum is going to self moderate from now on, and if you need any more smilies do let me know. I quite like the hug one.
Necromania threading 101.
First point: Totally agreeJust to re-iterate my grateful thanks to the moderator team here, I have just been reading a thread over at Vintage Radio where someone asked why his thread was closed. He was told that he wasn't allowed to ask his questions on alternative fora at the same time and got ganged up on by other members. It seems to have ended with him being banned. Unbelievable, so once again, thank you moderators for your Human, reasonable and caring proactive* to running this valuable resource.
Here it is if someone wants to argue it.
* That was an auto correct substitution, but after reading it back, I though "yep, it'll do".
