Hi guys I'm new so hello
I've just brought a Murex midget of ebay , Is it a good welder and where can i get bits from ? it needs a one switch on the front Help please .
You should be able to source a switch that will fit easily enough, try RS or Rapid.
I doubt you'll get an original Murex one but any similar switch ought to work ok.
Can't say I've ever seen one mentioned on here but I found a manual for it and it looks like a decent enough machine, feed motor and roller assembly looks good and the current range is 30-170 amps so nice and versatile.
How much did you pay for it if you don't mind me asking?
I payed £27.00 .it's used and needs a regulator but i think it's not to bad a price ? what do you think?
Thanks for the Manual I'll print it off later .
If it works then I'd say you've done very well indeed!
You should be able to bridge the switch connections to ascertain if it does actually work before spending any money on it.
Its the wire speed? switch the guy has drilled and glued a bit of metal in it to turn it , I've thought of a switch i think i can make fit that came off my old BSA motorbike ? have to see . thanks for the help
Ah, it's not a switch then is it!?
It's a potentiometer you need, you'll have to whip the old one out and match it up, should be easy enough. This one by any chance?
Not at all, you'll just have to match the resistance, get a knob to fit it and you're done.
Take it out and see if there's any markings on it, if so then you should be able to determine what it is.
Thanks mate . Its my first day on this sight and you've been a star . I'm more use to milling machines and lathes than welders so sorry for all the questions
That's what this forum's all about Joss.
Let us know how you get on with it, I reckon that'll be a cracking little machine if you can get it sorted.
I take it it works ok other than an iffy wire speed control pot?
