Ooo, now I wouldn't have been able to resist putting a back cut on that valve to get rid of the bit of seat dangling in mid air, maybe even put a tiny radius on it...Motor was slightly down on comp numbers on a couple of holes...head off and check piston/bore/ring numbers and all within spec with no visible signs of dread. pop the valves out and straight away i could see they needed a bit of lapping but nothing as drastic as re-cut, also 3 of the 4 domes would not hold white spirit longer than 10 seconds so deffo leaking past valves. Anyway job done and on a brighter note it has had ART coated pistons not long ago so that's good. Was going to split the cases to check the crank and gear dogs but i will get the head nailed back down and see what it runs like 1st..I can always invert the motor and take the lower case off without disturbing the top end in future if gears need swapping out.

whats the score with the gearing thats a small cog on the rear end bikes are generally 3 times the sizeFinally got the drive chain sorted and made a chain adjuster..These things take time when your also trying to mix in what stuff you have buried under the benches like bits of 530P chain that must have 10mm rollers and not 7mm,and a nice little 30mm idler pulley that took 2 days to find

bike has 17" wheels with average 40 tooth sprocket..the cart has 10" wheels with a 26 tooth rear so its pretty close and to be honest just following trends on this but do have spare rears and engine sprockets to play withwhats the score with the gearing thats a small cog on the rear end bikes are generally 3 times the size
You could work it out mathematically, you have all the info. But use the outside diameter of the tyre, not the wheel diameter, it makes quite a difference. Its only ratios.bike has 17" wheels with average 40 tooth sprocket..the cart has 10" wheels with a 26 tooth rear so its pretty close and to be honest just following trends on this but do have spare rears and engine sprockets to play with
