Yes, 2 inch thick, came with the Fritz Werner. Skimmed loads of heads, blocks etc with it. If I want to move lots of metal I use a multi tooth indexed cutter, but that one is only 4 inch or so wide.Made from steel then if it’s heavy I guess
that would be even better if you had a second cutter on the other end used as a precutter it would also balance out much better as wellView attachment 353108I made this 330mm (13") diameter cut fly cutter from a 40x40mm square bar, at 40 rpm, I skimmed a cast iron surface plate with it! I used a high-speed steel tool that I ground for my shaper!
Cheers, Matthew
Yes, it probably would be better if I put a second cutter on it, balance isn't a problem, it's got plenty of momentum, I've only ever run it at 40 RPM! I skimmed a surface plate (12" x 24") that I found in a dumpster with it about five years ago, 10 days ago, I skimmed a home-made Al jointer table plate for a friend and that's it! If I used it a lot I would definitely add a second tool!!that would be even better if you had a second cutter on the other end used as a precutter it would also balance out much better as well
