hi ,i thought i would post some pictures and tell you about my project that i have been doing for far to long, i have done a copy and paste from a blog i have started on a bmw forum
I dont know were to start with this one , so here you go
Its a 1972 2002 touring fitted with a evo2 s14, I will be using a emerald ECUto run the engine .
when i got the car it was fitted with a 5 speed box from an e21, but now i have an e30 m3 box
Suspension wise, it has been fited with coilovers all round and anti roll bars.
The brakes on the front where standerd , but i have fitted the vented discs brakes from an e21 along with some porsche calipers, but it now looks like i will have to change these for some bigger calipers , this am going to have to look into as i would like to stay with my 13" wheels , The person i got the car off did a disc conversion on the back using vauxhall cavalier discs and renault 25 calipers , but as i am fitting a back subframe from an e30 these will be gone
For the wheels i will be fitting 13x7 on the front with 185/60/13 tyes and on the back 13x8 with 205/60/13 . these will be covered with arches that i got from Ebay , They are supposed to go on a mk2 Escort but as they are aliuminium they are esay to bend to the shape of the 2002 body , being that there is basic shape between these two cars its not been to hard to make them fit .
As for the s14 , i have it in bits for the third time as i have changed my mind back to what i wonted to do in the first place , and am going to add a turbo, i have spent a bit of time looking at how i could mount the turbo in the engine bay as space is tight in there , and my friend came up with this
the port spacings are the same , just need to get the stud holes sorted
you can see in this picture how this turbo manifold compares to my old M2 manifold
I hope to have this all in the car in the next few month , i just need to buy a few things from topend performance
ok , so now the steering conversion , I have done this by using a lefthand drive steering rack turned upside down.
i then welded brakets to the subframe to mount the rack , the reson for doing this is to make room for the turbo
as you can see it could do with one more coat of paint
and for the last two weeks i have been fixing the sill by removing the rust and pactching it up with new sill panel
And this is the last picture for tonight , just to show how the arches will look when done , I cannot make up my mind as to how i should fit these to the car
Should i fit them like on the turbo with the pop rivets showing , or smoth and blended to the body ?
I have been doing a lot of over time the last few week's so have had no time for the m2, but i hope to get back on it next week
I will go to my friends workshop tomorrow and rebuld the s14 without all the moving parts so we can put the engine back in the car and start working on the turbo installation
here are a pictures of the turb that i will be using, it is a t34 witha 68 housing
also my farther inlaw has made some frame rails for me at his work to replace mine as they are too bad to work with
I have some more to post about this project which i may post tomorrow
