im going to fully seam weld the emgine bay but i was told instead of doing a continous seam weld along all the joins i should weld 2 inches then leave to inches and so on as if the weld should break at all it wont split down the whole weld is this a better idea or is is wrong info iv been told ? im also buying front and rear strut braces to keep movement in the suspension strut to a minimum, at the moment im just working on getting all the welding sorted and repair welding so i can spay the under bonnet and drop in the new engine and gearbox then im gonna go more extreme once all that is done including doing an awd swap which hasnt been done in the uk yet only america plus no-one has done the engine swap in the uk im doingmalcolm said:Mike - welcome to the forum.
2 litre and 4wd should be fun in a Colt. What are your plans for the engine bay? Fully seam welding it, or a bit of bracing?
so hopefully with some advice from members here i will be able to weld again soon so i can get the car all ready
