It might have been out in 10 minutes, how ever it would be gas axed into smaller pieces within 5 minutes.
yeah I forgot about that, good ole Tony

I did a stint driving a big Volvo dumper at Gasogine woods -Nth Shelby Mine complex drift mine- when it rained you couldn’t see the sides of the road for the coal slurry, everything looked the same - black as coal and flat. One of the dumpers didn’t make it around one corner, sliding off the road. I was following. All you could see was the top of the cab. With the driver crawling out looking like he’d been tarred waiting for the feathers
I heard this story from someone else years ago, was the driver called Phil?
Funnily enough, got a cent ARV to play with at some point in the near future. Rebuilt a few packs for themWhen I was stationed in Germany in the late 60s, I was seconded as a vehicle mech to our workshop's recovery section. We got called out to a recovery job where two AEC 10 tonners and a Fowler D8 dozer were bogged down in fields about quarter of a mile from the road. We took out our Scammel recce truck which could handle the 10 tonners and a Centurion ARV to deal with the Fowler plus a Landrover for our transport and tools. It took around two and a half days to finish the job during time which we slept in a barn and ate/drank in the local pub around 2 miles away. We had to work from a newly-laid tarmac road as the ground was too boggy for either of the recce vehicles. By the time we'd finished, the road surface was no longer in pristine condition having had to drop the spade on the Centurion to provide enough traction and resistance to haul the Fowler out. I suspect that the fallout from damaging the road surface was dealt with at a higher level as we heard very little and there was no comeback. I suspect, though, it was a different story for the drivers of the recovered vehicles. I spent about a year with the recce section before getting posted and had a great time but that was perhaps the biggest job we had to handle while I was there.
Thought some of you might find this interesting...

Still a fair old recovery but nothing compared to the digger. The ambulance crew were taken to hospital but fortunately no one hurt. Black ice, each one went in separately. I actually went to this one and the approach road was fine, the road then crossed a canal and went into a slight right bend before the sea level moor road, it’s really was like glass, even on foot it was nasty.
Aw man, I’m trying really hard not to buy an explorer. You really arent helping!!For your viewing pleasure:
Video below is part 1 of 3. Tank recovery starts about 21:30 in part 2 and all of part 3.
