A couple of days ago I picked up an old SWP invert-r 180P ( of a member on here ) metal clad one not orange plastic covered thing . I've never set up a tig myself before and it came with no leads/torch although we did test with some borrowed leads on stick and it worked fine.
the rotary control for the slope down has been changed as it has a different knob but I don't want to rush out and buy torch/gas/consumables just to find it won't work on Tig.
so my questions are
1) will this be scratch or lift tig
2)I'm assuming the torch will need to be switched weather it be wp 9/17/26 dependent on how thick i want to weld
3) what type of connecter is needed on the switch wires from torch to fit socke
4) will I need a valved torch, I've had the casing off and theres what appears to be a solenoid on the gas inlet at the rear so I'm presuming not.
I'm hoping a mate may be able to cobble up a torch so we try it before buying spending money worst case is I sell it on as mma only
any help or thoughts would be welcome
