I just put the bit on the work bench and push down, that then turns the bit so you can see which way it's going.I've got to agree with the hammer type impact drivers. I spend ages every time trying to figure out which way it'll go with the slider in each setting. I think I've only once ever managed to get a bolt undone with it and I've tried it countless times.

Circlip pliers - hate to think how many I have broken over the years unless you can start to loosen rusted in ones with a punch and hammer. Just keep buying more, the knipex ones in the tool roll are good:

The ends on grease guns are a consumable part.
Just unscrew it and replace it with a decent brand.
