Typical arb cut, just cant get the kids to bend over these days. A forester would have shot him for leaving a stump that high

You can't beat a council take down. Leave a 3' stump!

Here is our one, the lines are to show the trainee the correct cuts . We had to buy one being it was £90

The stick in the cut shows the direction. Nailed the spot i put a marker on.
Just don't tell the new guy that i picked the easiest tree to show him.
I personally am a huge fan on 16" bars an will use that size felling up to about 24" trunks.
We tended to use 13 inch bars when contracting, amazing what you can cut with the right techniques. Moved to this org and they insisted on 15 inch bars, never gave a reason. The last saw update course I did the trainer/ tester wanted us all to use 20 inch bars. We had fun, some of the trees were huge.
They are pushing using bigger bars, like everything devaluing skillsets.
Finally got out to garage. I've typed the number of bar into Google and seems the current bar is a 18inch not 20inch as I previously thought.chain has oregon 91on it with 61drive links. So now I'm wondering what size to go down to. 16 or 14. What do you guys find a good length bar.
