I bought some roof bars to carry kayaks on my Grand Scenic. Horrible things, covered in some super slippery plastic.
Carrying one kayak in the rain it was slipping all over the shop, ok it was windy but stuff that.
A layer of gaffer tape topped off with bicycle inner tube has temporarily fixed the slipperiness
Also they are too close together for peace of mind as loads get longer. I think they are about 800mm apart
so I'm going to fabricate some extensions to bolt on them.
I have a simple plan that will bolt on a treat.
I reckon galv them for longevity, not pretty buy who gives a hoot.
Or powder coat them?
is there something I stick on the bars to separate my lovely plastic boats from the steel?
not after a gritty surface dont need slabs of foam I hear they lead to dents in the hull.
inner tube fixed with silicone with a few cable ties?
