I suspect there is no difference but thought I'd ask in case someone has prior experience.
In order to fit the 1UZ to the Sandringham I need to machine up a spacer for an Oilite bush. The crank ID is 32mm and ~31mm deep, the gearbox is 3/4" (19.05mm). My current thinking is to source a readily available 3/4" ID, 7/8" OD, 1 1/8" length bush which would leave a ~4.8mm wall spacer between the bush and the crank.
Is there any particular reason why you might want to fit the spacer to the gearbox end rather than the crank end? I feel doing it my way makes the mating process of the gearbox to engine simpler. I don't think there's a physical reason why you can't do either way as all that matters is that it's a reasonably tight clearance fit.
