That little word is the problem when you're bodging something you're hopefully going to sell a few of. It needs to be pretty accurate if you want the four holes and the ring to fit the part it's attaching to. You could cast a solid lump at the base and then machine it, but your increasing production costs even more, you also have to spend time cleaning and polishing the weld marks out if you want it to look old and original again more cost. We make bit's and pieces for a bloke who sells mini moke spares, but he has to order a good few and they're all bit's we can machine.
you need to build up "about" 7% to allow for shrinkage
