Some will have read my recent thread about the NC500 and the volume(s) of traffic which are making things.....'difficult' throughout the area.
Well, I heard in the local shop today of a woman who owns a property in the West which she lets out for holiday lets. I don't know the property but imagine it may have been an inherited crofthouse which she's had renovated for this purpose - this happens quite a lot up here.
Anyway, she had a telephone booking for a party of four, which is what the property can accommodate. Pleasant sounding folk and paid for no problem. So far, so good.....
She doesn't live particularly near to the house, but on the second day of the arranged let she got a call from someone who does, saying [without going into any detail] that they thought she really ought to come to it ASAP.
So, slightly alarmed, she jumped in her car and drove there to find the area of ground in front of the property full of camper vans!! There were 38 people on the property .
My reading of the situation is that a) someone spotted a way to make money while on holiday, charging the campervans for parking there, or b) the remaining 34 souls were ALL their relatives in the world, descending on the site to avail themselves of the initial rental.
I suspect that a) is the more likely. I've not heard [yet] how she handled the situation but in her place I'd have blocked the exit, charged the campervans for their stay, then evicted the tenants for breach of the rental agreement.
People, eh?
