Good evening ladies and gentlemen,
I would really appreciate some advice regarding a new welder. I run a small bodyshop and after years of subbing out small welding jobs I’ve decided to take the plunge and give it ago myself as I have bought a project for the shop. I have welded before so I’m not a complete newbie however I have no idea what welding technology is like now compared to what I used to use..
Many of my friends are using the super sealy 185.. with great success for car bodywork.. and that’s all I plan on welding. However I’d like to start with a new welder/helmet recommendations appreciated too.. with a budget of £500-700.
I know a lot of people like the machine Mart welders but I’ve had terrible experience with them / Definately with compressors so ideally I’d like to avoid Clarke..
Like I say, il be welding only thin steel..
I would appreciate any advice as it seems there are so many on offer..
I do like the look of the portamig.. although an off the shelf/fast delivery item would be good..
Many thanks
