In my double garage I have an RSJ which supports the (flat)roof joists. It runs across the width of the garage halfway down it's length, joists are sat on top of it.
Garage is of concrete block construction, RSJ sat on piers each side. It was all put up in the dim distant past, 70s or so. RSJ obviously never painted and is rusty. It is 7" high 4" wide and spans 17ft.
Could I safely use a chain hoist on a trolley to lift engines from this RSJ? I was thinking A series engine and gearbox combos not big V8s unfortunately.
If the base of the RSJ is 7.5 ft from the floor is that actually enough height to get an engine & gearbox out of a car with a chain hoist?
