Hello everyone, this is my first post on the forum alltrough i have been reading other posts tutorials and threads for several months now, followed the buyer guide and tips and this time I decided to create my own thread to ask some specific questions, instead of just ask "what is best to buy". Hoping I dont bore you with the extent of my post as well.
I am looking to buy my first good MIG welder, I usually borrow from friends and i have a MMA welder, i have basic experience with it, not even near to professional use, and I decided to go with the STAHLWERK MIG 175 ST IGBT, for some reason I love the looking of the machine first (which we all know is not important) and have read good comments about it.
I am a DIY user, its going to be used ocassionally to build custom cabinets and workshop tables/desktops, and the primary, and probabily only material to weld is going to be regular steel, or possible stainless steel.
I would like to check on everyone opinion of this machine, again, STAHLWERK MIG 175 ST IGBT, if I am doing a good purchase, and explain what would loose if i go with lower models like the 155 or even 135, are these still good enough for good DIY use? the material thikness regularly will be around 1.5 to 3mm, maybe 4mm but no more than that.
Lastly but not least, I would like to ask for TIG options, I am totally a newbie in the TIG welding world but seen some machines that are TIG cappable if you purchase the torch, is the MIG 175 ST IGBT such case, can I start to learn and play with TIG welding on this machine?
If someone knows of a good alternative that can do both MIG and TIG please let me know.
I appreciate everyone suggestions
