So to get my self some brownie points I got my good lady a little oil free compressor so she can do her own car tyres..
(I might borrow it for a project but that's not the point)
It is (was) brand new. I fired it up and it worked fine, charged, stopped. I drained some air and it charged and stopped again.
It has a little blow-off valve on it with a little key ring type thing on the top
For some reason (safety testing maybe?) I pulled the little ring, air came out like I expected but then would not stop coming out. I drained it down but could not get it to re-seal properly.
Expecting it to just be a spring and some sort of seat I took it apart and found what looks like small ball bearings in the bottom of the seat. I removed them and it now seals again.
A close up photo shows they don't really look perfectly round. I put them in a little bag for safe keeping and they almost behave magnetically?
What are they and should they be in there or not?
I am wondering if they might have been floating around in the regulator or something and tried to escape when I pulled the burst valve but that's a random guess? Or are they something to prevent the valve sticking closed somehow?
