Hi All,
I need a press brake or a box and pan folder for my workshop.
I have used press brakes plenty and know that they are a good tool for the job.
My question is around what should i get.
I will need something that can bend up to 2.5m in maximum 5mm 5083 aluminium.
We have a small Morgan Rushworth 4ft box and pan at work and i just tried it yesterday with a bit of 3mm 316 stainless sheet the full length and bent it really no bother to 90 degrees. this is just a small old manual machine.
My reason for questioning the press brake route is basically down to the size of them in the workshop as compares to a box and pan, and i think from my test yesterday even with the 3mm stainless i would have got a bit of that bent double the length no bother on a bigger machine
The bending wont be frequent, not a production line type environment but more maybe a few times a month.
Do any of you happen to have a machine that size to be able to test this for me?
Looking at the bending forces required for a bit of 3mm stainless at 90 degrees they are as follows.
3mm x 4ft as i tried yesterday is 31 tonnes of force (didnt expect that)
3mm x 4ft of aluminium is 12 tonnes
So with that i can scale it up to what i need to do on a bigger machine and say that 2.5m of 3mm stainless would take
3mm x 8ft = 80 tonnes
3mm x 8ft aluminium = 30 tonnes
4mm aluminium x 8ft = 60 tonnes
5mm aluminium x 8ft = 90 tonnes
Do you think there are any machines available that you would get that bent up to 5mm?
Thanks
