many thanks ,, it looks like a fair idea , but I dont think I would have the nerve to use one , not with a rattly gun on a big nut , Is that extension to where the electrode would be metal , or plastic ?
cutch drum nuts can be mean , but I use 3/8 on most things these days , its not for the power a rattly gun comes in , its often handy for the short sharp shock , you can undo flywheels with a rattly gun if you hold the flywheel in your spare hand , so no need for spark plugs or string . [ 3/8 rattly gun ]There’s nothing on a chainsaw you would use a rattle gun on. Nothing is that tight. It’s all metal
bit of delrin would be tempting ,

put a shoulder on it and its always going to be in compression , shouldnt ever come out ,That would work - I would go for brass as I could hammer it in so hard it would never come out.
Enlighten me...
I have been a motor mechanic for 37 years - I have never needed to put rope down a sparkplug hole.
Why...? Would you do this to start with?

Put the rope in, bring the piston up to it, then you can use a ring spanner to change a broken valve spring without taking the head off.
It works an absolute treat, I've used it twice although not for years.
I run my own garage - it would be head off - all new valves and springs and guide seals here - no short cuts taken!
sort of like strimmer line heads , that a clever wee hole , but amazing how many folk dont know about it ,,Guns wouldn’t be any use for the new clutches, they. Have a grove to insert the chainsaw saw plug key and you hit it with the palm of your hand to slacken or if it’s tight a hammer.
Saws are simple, no need to over think things
