Been looking for one of these for a while to help with some work I’m going to be doing here at later date, managed to pick this one up cheap, it has few issues but in knew that that’s why it was cheap.
Problem number 1 key way worn in the engine output shaft that holds the clutch unit in place.
Cleaned it up, welded, ground out, filed, we will see how long it lasts
Problem no.2 The main issue the torque converter/centrifugal clutch/variable drive unit is completely worn it has been got at a number of times, you can tell as it’s held together with self tappers and snots of weld. The central shaft for the torque converter is badly worn and 2 bushes completely missing.
So removed the welds , drilled and tapped the case to get rid of the self tappers, cleaned the shaft up with the angle grinder, built the shaft up with weld and machined back to something near correct.
Now awaiting delivery of 3 new bushes and it can be assembled and tested.
There is a bit of welding to do on the skip, I need to redo the fuel pipe and fit a filter, it needs an a air filter. I am going to take the top of the gearbox/diff and check in there and change the oil too. I’m sure there will be more, I will keep you updated if you’re interested.
