My wife would like an iron trellis built.
Something like the one in the picture I have hopefully attached.
I think I'd like to make it out of solid 8mm or 12mm bar with some solid spheres attached at the ends.
I'm happy to spend a day or two practicing before I start and I'm aware my first job won't be pretty. I've done a day or two of stick and mig welding before, but that was about 10 years ago.
I want to buy something that's as cheap as I can go without buying utter garbage.
As best as I can tell, both stick and gasless mig would do the job, stick would be cheaper but gasless mig would be easier to make look good. Is that right?
I've read a fair bit about thickness of metal and amperage, but this will only have to hold itself together and maybe some roses rather than be structural. Are the guides around amperage and thickness more to do with structural welding?
