Cable run of 18 meters, 3 phase 415 volt 12kva invert welder on the end of it. Will 5 core SWA with 2.5mm2 conductors be ok, cable will be clipped to the wall in open air no tray.
The reason I ask is a previous install of wiring was loose 2.5mm2 in some plastic box type conduit. There was a miller 357 ac/dc transformer tig set on the end. Full pedal on some alloy wheel repairs produced first a smell, then a bag and pritty shower of sparks. The wiring cooked fast. I dont know the rating of the miller but online cable calcs sugest this will be ok but Im no so sure though. Do I need to get some heavier cable for the supply?
