even the lads at work who have to weld pipes that carry fuel and crude oil are never to keen on doing them. we never get close when they have to repair one but I belive after the pipe has been drained they fill the pipe with nitrgeon and these pipes can be from 4" to 24" dia
I would rather buy a new tank than sit out side the pearly gates with my tig waiting for St Peter
once i was shown an example one of the tech filled a small metal sample container with petrol .left it over night then drained it out then washed it out and put the opening near a flame. It still went pop. it was to show us even when sample containers have been washed they can still contain some residue.
