Okay folks that's another wreck of a thread averted. Keep it on subject and if you're not happy with something then please just report it and we'll deal.
Sorted? Cool beans
Got 10 minutes spare tonight. No engineers blue here, just one of those paint pens! Did the job and looks cool. Bevel is 13mm from the edge. Not sure wether to do a Scandi grind or put a second bevel on it. One thing I do know, I need some decent files and possibly a bench grinder with a linisher attached. What’s a decent brand of flat files? Hers some pics of tonight’s progress and the templates

Not in the right order
Seriously my man, there’s a time and place for every thing.
Yes, with much reading you could emulate a japenese master, but if your playing at having a go, just do and have fun
There’s a time and place
Tough durable edge: Scandi, sharp fragile edge: secondary bevel. Depends as much on what the material is as it does the intended purpose.
You may also be whiling away the hours with hand sanding. I find it therapeutic and make up a batch of ~4" x 1" sanding sheets cut from full sheets of emery. These go onto a simple flat holder and I just go up through the grits getting to the finish I want. One tip though (and sorry if this is really obvious) a brand new unused stick of emery paper will give you half a dozen good cuts before the grit is effectively used up. The trick is to use a cutting fluid and switch papers often.

Care to share pics of any fruits of your efforts.
You fellas still seem to be struggling with the concept of the forum, more interested in sniffing round each other. Can you stop please.
@Migmac I've been tempted to add one of these to my bench grinder for a while. I've got a big linisher but it's a bit much for doing finer work. Not as good as some of the 2x72's you see people building but might be pretty usable. http://www.multitoolproducts.com/sh...-2-1220mm-x-50mm/p/90123395/category=24521402
Might be of interest to you.
Perfect timing, I was wondering if a linisher/ belt grinder could be added to some bench grinders. I now know.
Once I fell down the whole Walter sorrels rabbit whole. He has some really nice kit that massive linsher and ovens. I just know I would't really use it enough at all to justify but fun to dream eh
