Right guys, I'm new to the group and looking at teaching myself to mig weld.
No real reason other then for fun I guess, I used to be a precision machinist and now I'm a marine engineer and welding is something that's never been offered.
I'm not going to spend a fortune, £200 is about it. I know r-tech is the nuts but I juts can't justify it for fun unless someone is selling one 2nd hand.
The two im interested in atm is a 2nd hand clarke 130en or the 135te or a uptime 160.
The main differences seem to be the clarke is transformer and the uptime inverter.
I like the idea of control on the uptime, but I like the fact that if the clarke breaks it should be easier to obtain parts and repair?
Can anyone help me come to a decision??
I'll probably do some body work on my shogun, my some trailer repairs, small things here and there once I've taught myself the basics but I'd like it to last a few years.
Thanks for reading guys.
Alex.
