Seriously have you tried to auto drag racing places?Well it doesn't matter now as if I can't get nitrous oxide it's not going to happen.
NOS is safer than O2 as as long as the catalyst isn't hot you can spray it all over your fuel (carbonised rubber?) and it won't ignite. O2 is a bit funny, especially around grease. There was a guy in Stoke late 70s I believe unloading liquid O2 from a tanker and didn't check the couplings for grease. It made a bit of a bang and they only found one of his feet.

I used to get cylinders of nitrous the size of a W from BOC.
....It also gives the benefits of hypergolicity without the dangers inherent in propellants normally associated with this attribute....
Is the energy released in the decomposition enough to run a turbopump for the fuel, like a modified gas generator cycle? I'm guessing you're just using pressurised fuel but it would be cool if it's possible.
