Posted this on a Series 5 specific forum but would like your take on it.
The attached picture is of the drivers side brake pipe but both front brakes have suffered from years of neglect and the attentions of less than sympathetic "mechanics" over its previous ownerships. Obviously I have to replace the flexible pipes but the brake pipe union nuts are both shot and I now face having to replace both runs of pipe.
Possible options:
Buy the pipes from BMW - would then need to buy a steel pipe bender or pay for a garage to do it for me.
Replace the whole lot with Cunifer (which I have) and attempt to use the never-been-out-its-box Sealey pipe flaring kit which I bought for an abortive revival of an E30. Anyone used the Sealey kit and got leak free results?
The drivers side pipe has so many bends in all three planes that it begs the question - will I be able to get the finished pipe back again?
Cut the pipe off just south of the flare and hire a steel brake pipe flaring tool. Could this be done in situ? All the steel flaring tools I have seen look as though they require a bench vice.
Your help would be much appreciated
Andy
