Good afternoon one and all, today I started the not inconsiderable task of furbishing my once lovely lathe. Too be honest it`s a bit of a shed, but it`s my shed. A couple of pics to get started, if you look carefully you will see one of the single dog tooth gears is cracked! oh joy, that must have gone with a bang? As a result I had to use a puller to remove a gear which had kept going and bent the key, now this was not a bit stuck, when you tapped it with a copper mallet, it had that solid sound, you know what I mean. Because the lathe had been standing in a shed for 15/20 years the head stock has grit/sand/dust old oil and grease in it, so it`s a complete strip down I think. I am going to try my very best not to remove the spindle bearings as that frightens me, Gulp
