Hi All
So I have done some more practising as I seem to have some on my hands, therefore today's question is......
Using 6013, at the lower end of the amperage range for the rods (100A - ish for 3.2mm) I have noticed that slag entrapment at the beginning only of the weld can be a problem (mainly 3.2mm rods). I am using quality branded 'RC' rods ( e.g. Nikko, EWM,). If I bump the amps up to 120-130 then this is not a problem!
I use a simple drag technique (only at the weekends lol!!!) on a fillet weld. Drag angle 10-30 degs pointing the rod at 45 degs into the joint.
What secrets have you learned to minimise this ghastly unsightlyness?
