Clean the drum spindle, feed rollers with alcohol based solvent.
They are sent from the factory with some sort of grease on them. That picks up and leads to a few issues.
Check that rust has not broken through the copper coating on the wire . Use a bright light & a magnifying glass if necessary . Rust will kill the torch liner and make for crap welds . Often if I haven't use my welder for a couple of months I'll cut the wire then take off a full layer from across the reel for I often discovered rust rash on the wire .
Thanks guys, I’ve cleaned the drive box and lightly greased, used the clear spay stuff it clings quite well to the cogs, check out someone’s quality plug work

If the history of the welder is unknown, treat it to a new torch liner. The older ones used a plastic tube similar to windscreen washer tubing, I can’t see on the photos what yours is. A new metal liner makes all the difference to how the wire feeds, taking some of the load off the motor. It is the same size & looks like curtain wire & I know several on here have used it as a replacement, I’ve not tried it personally. They are a good machine for hobby use, it will serve you well.
Thanks, It’s unknown, local purchase so no travel/ post cost either, it’s got a steel liner, and came with a bit of .6 wire, I did get a new one but won’t fit until I’ve got new wire and sorted gas out, yes they seem to soldier on
