anyone have much to do with HGVs ?
I've been messed around too much by suppliers (middle men), need to cut some out, so need a 27ton(ish) truck
I've already got HGV licence, so does a driver working for me, used to have an operators licence years ago, let it laps because didn't need it anymore, already applied for a new one, used to have a 6.5tonner, which is smaller, but I'm good with all the paperwork etc.
it's years since I've driven anything big, my brother used to work as an HGV driver so has more experience.... I've asked him about but all he talks about is what they're like to drive, which is the most comfortable and which gearbox is easiest to use... when I'm more interested in reliability and running costs
needs to be refrigerated, might as well go straight for 26/27 ton and have more head room, tail lift, much prefer tuck away tail lifts so they're out of the way when loading/unloading by forklift
my brother really likes Mercs... there's a few decent looking Volvos and Scanias around
guess it's the wrong time to be buying one, but we're food production so allowed to keep running, might work in our favour if no-one else is buying?
most of the ones I've looked at (online) are in the £10k range, happy to spend more if it's worth it, don't really want to spend more than £20k
