If im using a grinder for grinding grp with sanding discs The stoopidest thing i ever saw on you tube was a video where a shipwright had mounted a circular saw blade on a 10,000rpm angle grinder for cutting planks under a boat. How that man still had all his appendages i do not know. Trouble is someone is bound to think its a good idea & get bitten.
I had a 5" wrapped up in my jumper once, got caught up in there after the handle gave me a smack in the mouth
All guards being used, and a full face shield being worn.
It seems to be an American thing to not have the guard in place .. look at the forged in fire series for horrific stupidity wrt tool & working practices and a lot of our so called mechanic/ car programmes .THEY INSTALL GUARDS ON ANGLE GRINDERS FOR A REASON!
I bet he shrugs it off as "hey, things happen" but actually, it wouldn't have happened if he had the standard guard on the grinder.
Moron.
Most disc's have to be put on so they run in the right direction .. get it wrong and bang ...............….bits everywhereA mate of my dads was using a petrol powered cutter many years ago with the wrong disc when the disc shattered partially severing his arm, several operations later he did recover maybe 50% use of his limb. Not sure if the disc was the incorrect speed or for the wrong material !
