How much did those sets rush youQuite happy with my chinese ebay sets.
They were under 10 each. Bought the ball set because I took one of them apart and a tiny piece pinged off and took two months to find again. Balls are good for under 8mm otherwise I use the big set.

I bought a couple of second-hand brown and sharp small telescoping gauges which I was very pleased with, I needed some bigger ones so I bought a cheap set, they were awful, difficult to use, poor repeatability, they didn't slide properly, rubbish. Subsequently, I've bought the sizes I was missing second hand, good makes, all is now well! I had tried to polish up the cheap ones, nothing doing, no way could I get them to work well and give repeatable results!

That's what I did, weren't brilliant!Chinese ones are ok but, big but.
If you get a set strip them down and file the grooves smooth. Once done they are pretty good.
my were truly awfulThat's what I did, weren't brilliant!
Or alot of messing about as i have discovered.Starrett, Mitutoyo, Brown and Sharp, Tesa, old Moore and Wright and Shardlow, and Matrix, those are the brands to buy, cheap unnamed Chinese muck, you are asking for trouble.
