I think the UK gov have been pushed by the EU to sign up to have so many smart meters fitted each year.
What I object to is being told that it will save me money, it wont with the same consumption.
What about all the waste produced by scrapping the old meters before their time and the resources used to make the new ones
I wonder what the environmentalists think about that?
Who will pick up the bill for this project in the end, the consumer or the tax payer, it won't be the energy supplier that's for sure.
It makes more sense to me to replace the old meter when it come to the end of it's life with a smart meter as a matter of course. This is just a publicity stunt so they can say they are being environmentally friendly.
