Removed existing damp wall paper etc from what was the airing cupboard. This is within the "extension" at the back of the house. I say extension but it may have been built at same time as house (circa 1926). Walls are generlly 9 inch solid. We had the kitchen below back to bare brick and never spotted anything.
If you run your hand down the edge of the bricks , they are quite smooth. As you can see ,some of them go through and are embeded in the main house.
Would these be built with an "expansion joint" of such, or do you think the rear of the house . The fact we couldnt see anything at the ground level has baffled me.
Would houses of this age be built with expansion joints ? Or would it.just settled at a different rate to the rest of it.
Plan to resin bolt a few lengths of 150 x 150 angle into the corners, then fill the gap with some cement. I would imagine its not going anywhere , so a bit of belt and braces really.
