I recently bought a new shower-head for the dog bath (yes really and about 5 x the cost of a human one!) It has a 1/2" BSP male, the hose it fits to has a 1/2" BSP male! So I made up a short brass adaptor. Mechanically it is fine - solid and doesn't leak, but because the shower head is smaller than the original she want this a little longer.
So I thought rather than metal, I's use plastic - warmer and softer to the touch.
I don't have any of the right diameter (about 25 or 30mm) and about 100mm long, so I'll need to buy some.
The HDPE is sold as having good working characteristics (easy to machine) but then also as a bearing surface.
Will that suit as a simple hollow tube with a 19mm diameter hole throughout and a 1/2" BSP thread at each end, my guess it will be slightly more flexible than more rigid plastic, or is there a better plastic material to use?
I'm not after cadging a piece (for once!) just making sure I buy the correct sort of material for machining, use and longevity.
Your thoughts and suggestions please?
Cheers
Peter
