I have just had my kitchen plastered.
House is about 160 years old, a Welsh terrace and has had all sorts of issues over the years not helped by braindead DIY'ers in the past.
I splashed a mist coat on the plaster when it had dried enough. No problems so far.
Today I came to apply the first coat of emulsion, and found around the top of window frame a white fibrous/crystalline deposit on the plaster. It brushes off and looks ok underneath.
What do I do?
I spoke to plasterer and he described exactly what I had in front of me, and says it's 'impurities' out of the old mortar and quite common in these old houses.
His advice go a builders merchant and see what they have got to use as a primer before painting.
Has anybody got any suggestions for ,me?
