Visited a house the other day, the young lad was saving the family money by doing up the bathroom himself.
He had put a new steel bath in, a waterfall shower tiled all round..
He had also mounted above the sink a mirror with light up the edges, on off switch at the bottom.
The 240 power came in through the wall behind the mirror. There was no sign of it being brought down from above and as they own the terrace house next door it's quite possible he fed it in from there. There was no light fitting there before.
He had also lowered the ceiling a foot, a wooden frame to support plastic cladding he has mounted six eyeball lights in this all from the original 240 light.
The switch is outside of the bathroom.
I saw the wiring before the cladding went up, he linked all the light fittings with lengths of 240 cable.
I told him he would be better running 12v in there but he went ahead anyway.
I'm just imagining someone standing in the steel bath waving a shower head about and spraying the ceiling.
There are no earth straps anywhere.
Am I too cautious?
